My Wellsburg - designed to inform and engage the community of Wellsburg WV
"My Wellsburg" is a term we use when referring to our city of 2500. It stems from the pride and emotions about belonging to a community of friendly, hard-working, fun-loving Americans. So, it is appropriate to name both this website and the accompanying newsletter My Wellsburg.
The purpose of My Wellsburg is to open a communication channel where news, activities, events, history, business, government, and development efforts are published. The desire is that you will become excited and engage in helping Wellsburg become a better community for our next generation. The scope of My Wellsburg is not limited to the city limits but encompasses the community beyond. The community leaders (not just the government) will hear what you think when you use the feedback channel, complete surveys, or use our calendar, which is open for event submissions from local public organizations.
Involvement can range from participation in local events to joining a team to reimagine what Wellsburg can become. You can learn more about teams under the What is Wellsburg's Vision? Take the easy first step, subscribe to the newsletter, then email your family, friends, and neighbors to signup.
You might find it interesting to learn we have a mutually beneficial agreement between West Liberty University, Bethany College, and My Wellsburg. The colleges are supporting the development and operation of My Wellsburg by offering student interns to work as reporters and writers. In turn, we offer an opportunity for the students to gain real world experience in their majors of Communications and English.
The My Wellsburg Newsletter launched on January 26, 2022. The ad-free publication will be emailed to subscribers every month on the second Wednesday. News will originate from the Wellsburg officials, various Brooke County sources, the Chamber of Commerce, BDC of the Northern Panhandle, and our core of student intern reporters. Don't be surprised by additional sources as we ramp up.

A secondary goal of My Wellsburg is to tell the story about our city to those who might be interested in a nice place to live or a location for a business. Start by exploring the Community section. You will find most of the background information a resident would need. The Business section is geared to growing existing or attracting new business. It includes supporting links, permits, licenses, and taxes with more in the planning stages. The section on Vision may be the most significant as it creates an opportunity for the stakeholders to engage and pilot the planning for our city. Simple "How to" instructions explain the process, teams, signup, and even provide potential funding sources. Other sections cover News and the Community Calendar.
